Kiboko Lodge

WF Kiboko lodge is the first Hotel in the world, which is fully run by former street children (except for the management). They are all trained for at least 4 years at the Watoto Foundation vocational training school at Makumira. Several students have practiced for at least two years at other high standard lodges.

WF Kiboko lodge is one of the biggest donors of the Watoto Foundation.

WF Kiboko lodge is situated at Ngurdoto village at the slopes of Mt Meru, only 4 km from the Momella gate Arusha national Park, just in the middle of Kilimanjaro airport and Arusha town. Transport from the airport can be organized by our lodge.

At clear weather you will have a splendid view on both Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, while having a drink at one of the 5 terraces. It is a bird watcher’s paradise, beautiful perched on the shores of the Ngurdoto crater with small Kiboko lakes with their wild life!

The lodge has 19 self contained rooms, with shower, toilet and a fantastic bed with fully covered designed mosquito net. All rooms have an open fire and veranda. The dining room is a real African looking place with open fire, palm leaves roof and open kitchen with our top cookers! In the night we organize on a safe place an open fire in the swamp. In our tea room we serve breakfast ( the nearest place to the wild life!) You can easy climb on our water tower, to take the most beautiful pictures of the mount Meru We have our own vegetable garden, coffee and banana farm and grow our own avocados and mangos and oranges. Our rates are competitive!

If you wish, we can organize a safari in the national park, a village walk, visiting the primary school, a walking safari in the rural area, mountain bike trip, visiting a very big women market, or river walk .Climbing the Mt Meru (4562m) or Kilimanjaro (5895m), balloon safaris, Beach holiday, cultural walks and of course visiting several project of the Watoto Foundation Tanzania. Our attractive, 1,5 km walking way is recommended.
